Sunday July 24: 3:00 PM - Installation of Officers and of Ladies

Auxiliary in the church, followed by a reception in Johnston Hall.

Tuesday July 26 - No Regular Meeting this date. The Installation will

serve as our second meeting for July.

Tuesday August 9 - Regular Business Meeting: Rosary at 7:00 PM and

Meeting at 7:30.

Sunday August 21 - Tentative - Picnic for Knights and their families at

a local Harrisonburg park.  Details to follow.

Tuesday August 23 - Special Business Meeting, with Father Tom Mattingly.

Rosary at 7:00 PM, Very brief business meeting at 7:30, followed by a

get-together with Father Tom. The general plan is that Father will tell

us a bit about himself and also get to meet us Knights and answer

questions we might have for him. Refreshments will be served.  Hope to

see you there.

September - First and Second Degree (together) - The date's not set yet,

we need to coordinate with the JMU council but probably the second

business meeting. Get your candidates lined up. We'll be praying a

Rosary between the degrees, and we'll have refreshments afterwards. It's

a beautiful ceremony. If you haven't been to one in a while, come and

join us. The ceremonies help re-affirm just why we're Knights; and to

have a nice crowd makes it that much more meaningful for the candidates.

Assembly # 2237:

Here are some other events for your calendar:

October 12:  Columbus Day Ceremony at the Statue in front of Union Station, Washington D.C.  Fourth Degree Knights from Virginia, Maryland and the District will meet to honor and celebrate our patron of the Knights of Columbus.  More information will be provided.

October 16:  Blue Mass at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Harrisonburg.  This Mass is to honor the first responders of our communities in the Valley.  The Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. and this year, we will have some military personnel from the Valley that have recently returned from Afghanistan.  The State Deputy and Officers of the Virginia State Council will be in attendance.  We will need members to participate in the Honor Guard and ushers seating of our guests.

November 11 & 12:  The Exemplification will be held in Richmond, Virginia.  This is a perfect time for those 3d Degree Knights to join our ranks.  More information will be forthcoming.

December:  The Annual Harrisonburg Christmas Parade.  The exact date is not known, but I would like to see not only our Color Corps march in regalia, but as many other Sir Knights in black tie, tuxedo and social baldric.

Our meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m. as follows:  July: Staunton; Aug:  Harrisonburg; Sep: Staunton; Oct: Harrisonburg; Nov & Dec: (To be announced).  A special note for the August and September meetings.  In August, our Commander will be going over instructions for annual certification.  In September, our assigned Associate Marshall will hold certifications.  Sir Knights are requested to bring their swords, service baldrics and gloves at both meetings.
